Digney York Associates Wins Philanthropic Competition Supporting Capital Area Food Bank

Trophy made of canned goods

The DYA team collected food items and raised funds for the Capital Area Food Bank.

VIENNA, VA - January 1, 2025: Digney York Associates (DYA) is proud to have participated in the annual "Battle of the Brands: Food Drive Face-Off" competition, a food drive initiative organized across Elkay Interior Systems’ (EIS) US locations. Designed to support local food pantries, the friendly competition encouraged employees to collect non-perishable food items and raise funds for their communities.

This year, DYA emerged as the winner of the competition, with employees showcasing exceptional generosity and teamwork. Led by Jose Rivera and Hallie Devine, the DYA team collected 386 cans and raised $5,865.00 in donations, all of which were donated to the Capital Area Food Bank to help address food insecurity in the Washington, D.C. region.

As the winning team, DYA was awarded the coveted "Mighty Canner" trophy and a $1,000 donation to the Capital Area Food Bank, generously provided by the Elkay Family Foundation

The Capital Area Food Bank has also invited DYA to extend its efforts by competing against other local companies for another trophy, with the challenge running through December 31st. This opportunity provides a chance to deepen DYA’s community impact while engaging in friendly competition on a broader scale.

Tom Kelley, President of DYA Construction & EIS Hospitality, says it’s an honor to provide for his community. “I am overly proud of not only the DYA Team but of our entire organization at EIS for this impactful community-based philanthropic project,” Kelley said. “We have both an enormous responsibility and opportunity to make our local communities a better place, and this year, I believe we have succeeded.”

The competition also included participation from other EIS locations, including Milwaukee, Oak Brook Terrace, Fond du Lac, and Spokane, whose efforts collectively contributed to an impressive 1,738 cans and $6,867.24 in monetary donations. In recognition of their contributions, each of these teams received a $250 donation to their local food pantries, also funded by the Elkay Family Foundation.

DYA's success in this initiative reflects the organization's dedication to community engagement and support for those in need. The collective efforts of all participating teams highlight a shared commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
